Why CO2 Cooling for Dry Machining?
CO2 cooling incorporates dry ice particles as a spray for external cooling or delivered through the tool for dry machining operations. CO2 cools the part, keeping the tool at near ambient temperature for grinding, cutting, turning, milling, and drilling processes.
Cool Clean’s CO2 coolant delivery systems are helping to produce safer and cleaner work environments. CO2 is a completely dry coolant, meaning that it does not use a liquid or flood-based coolant. The benefit to using a dry coolant is the cleanliness, as it reduces or eliminates post machining cleaning processes.
ChilAire™ is the product line of Cool Clean’s extensive CO2 cooling systems. ChilAire™ CO2 coolant systems are capable of through tool delivery or multiple external cooling nozzles. Each piece of equipment is easily integrated into CNC machine controls. The entire product line has CE approval.
Cool Clean has a long history of success and installed systems in various machining centers and tools. Our customers agree that installation and operation of the ChilAire™ CO2 coolant systems are simple and provide exceptional dry, cooling capability required for certain applications. The ChilAire™ is a cost-effective solution that requires significantly less modifications to the CNC and tooling.
CO2 cooling is gaining more traction as machine shops move away from traditional coolants, for cleaner solutions. Metalworking companies, as well as machine tool manufacturers, are finding benefits to drill composites and CFRP stackups with CO2.
