Precision Cleaning

Cool Clean Technologies provides precision cleaning that utilizes recycled CO2. Recycled CO2 is an excellent cleaning media for the removal of contaminants (solvents, oils, particulates, moisture, and more) from the surfaces of precision devices.

Cool Clean Technologies is the global leader of CO2 based precision cleaning systems in Medical, Aerospace, Semi-Conductor, Dental, Original Equipment Manufacturing (OEM), Industrial Micro-Electronics, Fiber Optics, Solar Energy, Jewelry and Garment Industries.

CO2 cleaning (a.k.a. dry ice blasting, dry ice cleaning, or carbon dioxide cleaning) is environmentally friendly, eliminating the use of deionized water, chemicals, and waste agents.

As technology has advanced, performance requirements and complexity of precision instruments has increased. Cool Clean has stayed ahead of this curve by continually providing state-of-the-art precision cleaning products used in conjunction with applications such as ultrasonic cleaning and aerospace cleaning.

Our precision cleaning equipment is typically placed directly into the manufacturing lines of precision substrates such as semiconductor wafers, sensitive media, fiber optic components, optoelectronic components, medical devices, and sensor devices.

Cool Clean has precision cleaning systems operating in over 20 countries in some of the most challenging applications in the world. In several industries, our CO2 cleaning technology is processing nearly the entire global demand of certain high volume products.

Precision Cleaning Applications

Precision Cleaning: Particle Removal

Our particle removal processes are currently being performed in the following industries: Hard Disk Drives (HDD) and Original Equipment Manufacturing (OEM)

Benefits: Can clean partially assembled components – makes rework drives possible; less floor space than traditional aqueous based systems.

Successful applications of particle removal include (but not limited to):

        • Removal of particles from HDD drive component surfaces before / during assembly of hard disk drive
        • Particles can damage the read-write head & media. CO2 provides particle removal with no damage
        • CO2cleaning eliminates the need for spoConductor, Electronics, Lasers, Automotive, Optics (Fiber / Lenses), and Jewelry Benefits: It is a clean, dry process capable of spot cleaning, adaptable to manual or automated use, short cycle without drying (energy saving), less cleaning variability, improves bond strength, and is environmentally friendly. Removes particles and biological type organics from surfaces.Successful applications of particle and thin film removal include (but not limited to):
                • Removal of particulate matter and thin films (oils such as finger prints) from substrates
                • High value cleaning for assembly of components

t cleaning, as all areas are cleaned simultaneously including areas that are normally avoided such as motor hubs and filters

        • Our technology allows us to remove particles as small as 0.2 to 0.3 microns and this is done in a dry CO2 process

Precision Cleaning: Particle Removal and Thin Film Removal

Our particle and thin film removal processes are currently being performed in the following industries: Medical, Aerospace, Aircraft, Semi-Conductor, Electronics, Lasers, Automotive, Optics (Fiber / Lenses), and Jewelry

Benefits: It is a clean, dry process capable of spot cleaning, adaptable to manual or automated use, short cycle without drying (energy saving), less cleaning variability, improves bond strength, and is environmentally friendly. Removes particles and biological type organics from surfaces.

Successful applications of particle and thin film removal include (but not limited to):

        • Removal of particulate matter and thin films (oils such as finger prints) from substrates
        • High value cleaning for assembly of components

Precision Cleaning: Particle Removal – Automated Cleaning Cell

Our particle removal – automated cleaning cell processes are currently being performed in the following industries: HDD, Liquid Crystal Display (LCD), Communications, Medical, Military, and Aerospace

Precision Cleaning: Particle Removal – “Clean In Place”

Our particle removal – “Clean in Place” processes are currently being performed in the following industries: HDD, Mechanical Assembly, Electronics Assembly.

Benefits: Offers selective cleaning at the point of contaminant generation so there is no need to remove component from line, saves time, low cost, do not need to buy additional automation for material handling and fixturing.

Successful applications of particle removal – “Clean in Place” include (but not limited to):

        • Integrate cleaning modules into existing manufacturing line to provide selected spot cleaning for assembly problem areas

Precision Cleaning: Surface Preparation – Adhesive Bonding

Our surface preparation – adhesive bonding processes are currently being performed in the following industries: Medical Devices, Aerospace, Aircraft, Thermoplastics, Printer Manufacturers, & Assembly Operations

Benefits: A clean dry process, surface functionalization at atmospheric pressure, short cycle, and demonstrating effectiveness at improving bond strength.

Successful applications of surface preparation – adhesive bonding include (but not limited to):

        • Removal of biologicals, light oils, and particulates from surfaces before adhesive bonding
        • High value applications for various surfaces

Precision Cleaning: Surface Preparation for Soldering

Our surface preparation for soldering processes are currently being performed in the following industries: Medical Device Manufacturing, Aerospace, Printed Circuit Board (PCB) Assembly, & High-End Board Assembly

Benefits: A clean dry process, spot cleaning (allows you to avoid particular areas of a populated board), improved bond strength, and environmentally friendly.

Successful applications of surface preparation for soldering include (but not limited to):

        • Removal of particles, flux, and light oil type contaminants from surfaces pre-soldering
        • High value / critical clean applications
